Chocolate-backed kingfisher (Halcyon badia), a bird confined to the interior of African rainforests, is still a reasonably common species but is under severe potential threat from future land-use changes in the region. Under two out of four socioeconomic scenarios, a >50% potential loss of geographic range is projected for this species by the year 2100 (see Jetz et al.).
